Polar graph paper for rosettes

Something that seems to be helping me in my quest to build some segmented rosettes is polar graph paper. You can easily download freeware/shareware programs to print graph paper, and it makes checking angles, etc a lot easier for me.

Covered in wax paper or mylar, it's great for glue-ups.
If you print the paper with a laser printer (or dupe with a photocopier) you can iron the pattern on your workboard with an ordinary household iron.


If you use wide test stock when you are setting up your saw jig, angle errors will be more obvious- and a sheet of this paper next to the saw (and a bright light) will make adjustment faster.

Thanks again to Tony Karol and the other folks who've posted ideas about jigs and methods for building rosettes.

BC Weather..(off topic)
Charlie seems to be quiet right now- he may not have power out in Sooke. They really got hammered in the last wind storm on Thursday night. Our power in my part of Victoria was out for about 8 hours- so not bad at all. I think WA is in even worse shape. Years of crew cutbacks and lack of branch trimming didn't help, but it was a pretty violent storm.

There 500,000 customers still without power in the Seattle area. There were a million the night of the storm. The maintenance crews and linemen are working round the clock to get the power turned back on and the roads cleared(no power no internet access for 46 hours, going through withdrawl!). With temps dipping into the freezing mark, the sooner the better. We were lucky, gas stove and fireplace insert, so heating and eating weren't much of an issue. Just lost a couple of shingles and some broken branches. Neighbors had to deal with downed trees, one huge cedar just missed the house. Those out on the peninsula and the islands got beat up pretty bad,the were expecting winds in excess of 100mph. We have heard of four deaths related to the storm in the Seattle area. People out driving have just been nasty. They were much nicer when it snowed. I say, no more televised Seahawks' games.

Love the graph paper. Need to squirrel this one a way for another day.
